Today is a day of remembrance, but also of responsibility. Every one of us has a role in challenging misogyny, supporting survivors and building communities where everyone can live safely and freely.

We remember them by continuing the work.

Gender-based violence did not begin or end in 1989. Across Canada, women, girls and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals continue to face unacceptable risks and harms. Many survivors are still unseen, unheard or unsupported.

On December 6, we honour the 14 women murdered at École Polytechnique simply because they were women. Their lives, their promise &the grief carried by their families remain with us today.

UCP calls for a referendum on “late term abortion”

Abortion is health care. It belongs between a patient & their doctor, not on a ballot & not in the UCP’s talking points.

The Alberta NDP condemns the actions by the UCP Government.

We will repeal these cruel, unconstitutional and dangerous pieces of legislation that put trans kids and adults at greater risk.

We will fight for a world where trans people can live with the joy and dignity they deserve.

It’s Transgender Awareness Week.

Trans people deserve safety, dignity, and the freedom to live as who they are, end of story.

I stand with Alberta’s trans community, and we will keep fighting the UCP’s harmful policies that target trans kids and undermine their safety.
