I think I waited to see who would not only wish me a happy birthday (as I usually play and lose consistently every year), but who even seemed to care when I opened up about what happened.

Love how friends who vent to me all the time just seemed to shrug off how I was feeling.

And while I'm ranting/potentially gonna piss off some people by venting, it's REALLY fucked up to manipulate your friend into dogging on your ex, only for you to talk to your ex/act like none of it happened while you do the same thing they did that you couldn't stop bitching about. 🖕

I don't mind being a vent source, and I do genuinely being support (i.e. helping with chores/errands). But I'm at a point in my life where I (almost) see myself having the same worth as everybody else, and I notice my circle is narrowing as I wait for people to check in on me first, for a change.

Sent them a box with some old stuff because they were hyper focused on a movie series we were both into. I even threw in some snacks and original comics for them into the gift box.

When it arrived? No thank you. No gratitude. For any of it. Just made fun of the candy I sent to them, hahahahaha 🫠

At least one of these friends is incapable of being happy unless they're constantly given stuff or they can hyper focus on a TV show while their relationships crumble away.

I used to bend over backwards for them (and a lot of people, honestly) with little/no gratitude with my efforts.

It's really hard constantly having to be someone's vent space when they can't even acknowledge shit you're going through. Got at least two friends who vent to me all the time, but when I take one moment to open up about shit I'm dealing with? Either time to ignore or change it to be about them.

I tried to take a photo of a grasshopper on my windshield, but now it looks like a gigantic bug destroying the town.
