13.02.2026 00:05 β π 5 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0Just a random thought for when you start your team preview podcasts - are there LODEM teams? (Rays, Brewers, Guardians, etc.). Clubs that somehow (and consistently) outperform their WAR projections for various reasons (superior player devt, etc.)? @enosarris.bsky.social @dvr.bsky.social

With journalists being arrested for doing journalism, now is the moment to understand why we need a free press and to defend it. Yes, the press supports democracy. But it is also fundamental to the rule of law. Ty to the editors at Cardozo L. Rev!

28.01.2026 23:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Jeff Bezos should be a hero and donate the Washington Post to a charity. Bezos would get a big charitable deduction; the rest of us would get a newspaper dedicated to the public interest. This post from Steven Waldman is from a year ago but it's still a great idea. www.cjr.org/opinion/wald...
28.01.2026 19:43 β π 897 π 179 π¬ 32 π 11Lastest episode of @strictscrutiny.bsky.social mentioned issue of repeated pepper spray use on restrained protestors (I *think* it was @kateshaw.bsky.social?). Given extremity of the ongoing horrors inflicted by ICE agents, this issue may be getting less attention but I hope people it won't be lost.
28.01.2026 19:40 β π 13 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0Now there may be other issues preventing civil suits against ICE officers, most notably SCOTUS's increasing restrictions on Bivens damages remedies against federal officers who violate constitutional rights. But see www.nytimes.com/2026/01/26/o...
28.01.2026 19:36 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0"Finally, it would have been clear to any reasonable officer that defendants' refusal to wash out the protestors' eyes with water constituted excessive force under the circumstances."
28.01.2026 19:32 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0"and even less necessary to repeatedly use pepper spray against the protestors when they refused to release from" their restraints. . . It also would have been clear to any reasonable officer that the manner in which the officers used the pepper spray was unreasonable."
