It’s the same exceptionslism core to the US project - ‘we’ can have utopia if not for all these other galactic societies who don’t share our culture and values…for example.

These arguments also wear thin when it’s clear they ignoring the other persistent imperfections of this future society - there remains war, xenophobia, gender politics, etc. bc, in fact, the capacity to imagine and display a genuinely just society is so unfamiliar to most audiences.
