I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

I had a dream this week in which Mary Woronov was a stage mom to the Deal sisters as their band was a cover for their career as bank robbers as they toured. I'm sad it doesn't exist in waking life.

Marion Davies should be mentioned in the same breath as Chaplin. Mabel Normand, too, given that she taught Chaplin how to direct movies.

Since we are once again dealing with "the only silent era comedians of note were men" I feel I need to stand up for the ladies.

Well we're obviously bringing this one back for the winter.

There's been a marked shift in the Hugo and Nebula awards away from straight white men, too. I'm only speculating, but the shift toward women, POC, and queer readers is economic rather than political because those demographics spend more money on books and are more reliable repeat customers.

The one true trans film from Hammer was Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, and boy howdy was that well cast. The resemblance between Ralph Bates and Martine Beswick is downright creepy. HRT is powerful stuff. Just sayin.

Thorley Walters, Susan Denberg, and Peter Cushing in Frankenstein Created Woman. Denberg's character has just been resurrected and stands between the doctors Herz and Frankenstein in a white gown.

For a movie in which the Baron transplants the soul of a man into the body of a woman, Frankenstein Created Woman is *completely* unaware that it is a trans narrative. SMDH.

Fun fact, the first Q from the Connery movies actually had a name. He was Major Boothroyd, the quartermaster (hence, Q branch).

So a new film opens with the ending of No Time To Die. Cut to Q wandering down into a vault and opening up a crate. It contains a new Bond played by a new actor. Q activates it and asks its name. It replies "Bond. James Bond."

(and now I wonder if this is a prelude to NOT observing MLK and Juneteenth. It's okay to observe holidays that Republicans nominally support, but anything celebrating black people? naaaah.)`
