Shakin' All Over I originally saw Tremors (1990, directed by Ron Underwood) when it was in theaters and then never afterwards. I may have seen bits of it ...

Wrote about Tremors (1990) for my October blogging project. Long overdue, it seems.

I haven't seen Tremors (1990) since it was in theaters. Maybe it ought to be in rotation as one of my horror comfort movies? I love the characters and I love the monster and I love that it's not hiding some deeper allegory in the subtext. It's just fun.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) remains evergreen. Vivid and angry. The Sawyers, I am reminded, are economic monsters more than anything and their grievances remain in the body politic.

One of the graboid worm monsters in Tremors (1990). It's entirely above ground in this shot, with the mountains in the distance.

My horror movies this weekend. One evergreen classic. One fun romp. (1/3)

There are 23 Parker novels and ALL of them are better than this piece of crap. I can't spot anything they took besides the name.

I haven't seen an episode of Friends or Love Actually, either. I don't feel like there's a hole in my education, but those are pretty big cultural touchstones.

I don't believe that Aaron is on bluesky, but here's tonight's episode of his excellent YouTube channel. I'm not saying that because he keeps inviting me on the show, either.

So, I'm on my blogging bullshit again, with a look at T-Blockers for the October Horror movie challenge and for Aaron Christensen's Scare-A-Thon in support of the International Rescue Committee. This had a fast turnaround because I had a bug up my butt about it. Blame (waves arms around) all this.

Oh my word. Bernie would be proud. I met him once. I asked him to sign one of his Swamp Thing comics for me. He got a glimmer in his eye and said "You know this stuff will rot your brain, kid?" One of the greats.

I'm supporting International Rescue Committee, Inc.! We help people affected by humanitarian crises to survive, recover and rebuild their lives.

Also, I am using my October blogging as part of my friend, Aaron's annual Scare-a-Thon, so this is a fundraiser. This year's cause is the International Rescue Committee, which provides aid to humanitarian crises around the world. Gaza is in their spotlight at the moment. Link for donations:

I'm starting my annual October horror film blogging with a look at the first two sequels to 1933's The Invisible Man. Both were released in 1940, so second wave Universal horror. One is pretty good. The other is less so....

I used to do electro in four hour chunks. By the second hour it had usually released so many endorphins that I was high as a kite for the remaining three. So there's that. I sometimes fell asleep.

Going to a showing of Alice Maio Mackay's TBlockers tonight at my local art house. Kills three birds with one stone: supports trans art, supports my local indie theater, and it's a horror movie for October. Perfect.

The Film Canary's October Horror Movie Challenge 2025 Every year across October I take part in a challenge born from the old IMDb message boards; across the 31 days of the month, one must watch at minimum 31 …

The watch begins tomorrow, thanks to @krelllabs.bsky.social for the banner image. I'll be sharing all my Letterboxd posts about what I've been watching on here, and you can donate to my fundraiser here. I am sacrificing a weekend to watch all of Human Centipede, that has to be worth something!

Every time I see some conservative say that the "transgender ideology" is "well funded", I just giggle hysterically. My dude, we collectively have about $47 between all of us which we pass around through GoFundMe and Venmo.

My 5 small pleasures vs. doom:

1. Talenti coffee chocolate chip gelatto

2. Waking up with my dog's chin resting on my knees.

3. Thin Man movies.

4. Wandering through my public library with no actual intent.

5. The way my house smells on Thanksgiving.
