My take today is that just straight up saying "I love you" in fic hits very, very differently depending on the character saying it

IE some characters would rather die than say it straight out. Others seem like they'd say it so freely and often it doesn't carry the same weight as it might otherwise

like. I REALLY wanted to like the third years. but jesus fuck the whole stupid...his power is a casino thing, but it's also a little story game, and i dont even remember what it actually does. it was just tiresome. same thing with kirara's power. like please can we just have a story

and it's hard for me to tell if i'm missing something here, or it's just not to my taste, or it's genuinely just awkward hatchety storytelling

basically it just really started to feel like they were jumping the shark, but in this way where it was like ok there were narrative seeds of some of this down but they weren't planted in a way that i'm actually invested?

completely lost interest in that whole dynamic between him and the spirits and the sorcerers/gojo when it turned out he was a puppetmaster brain, and had zero interest in seeing his story continue in that "he's been here all along!!!!!" way

It doesn't help that I was already just Not Interested in the whole kenjaku angle, because the "geto's not geto, actually" felt like such a cheap narrative piece.

everything just started to feel so disconnected and roundabout. I kind of got a kick out of the lawyer guy but he also kind of felt like the writer had gone "aw fuck. i got rid of nanami. i need another nanami-ish guy"

I don't have that to compare yet but I hit the point where they were tortuously trying to explain the culling game, which i still don't get the point of, and was like. blughghhh 💀 That and people's powers just got more and more complicated, and I hate long drawnout exposition abt how powers work

i feel this so hard. I haven't watched any of s3 yet, but when i read ahead in the manga there were parts I liked (Maki kicking ass) but the farther i got I was just like...having such a hard time connecting with the plot or its stakes, and i wanted dead characters back more than I liked new ones.
