it always looked to me like his inflated "net worth" is largely notional though (even more so than for other wealthy people)

(sorry, actually from Webster's but appears on the Collins website)

Unrelated, but just now I looked up "shenanigans"...
Collins Dictionary says it might be from Irish Gaelic "sionnachuighim", meaning "I play the fox", which would be wonderful if true. OED says "unknown origin" though.

sure, but doesn't the term "metroidbrainia" tend to be applied to more unusual games (often ones that mess with genre expectations)?

maybe part of the categorization problem is that those games tend to be quite unique... probably no one can make another Fez or another Return of the Obra Dinn (but another Myst is fine somehow)

I saw that, and this might be a weird take but the "procedural-" in that disclosure worries me. It looks like they're trying to blur the lines and create a narrative about "AI" being no different than the procedural and randomized content that's always been used in games...

When they released the first version of Stable Diffusion, they bragged in their blog about compressing all the images they scraped down to 4 GB, or whatever the size of the model weights was. (I bet they deleted that text from their website later.)

I was puzzled when my last post didn't appear in the Graphics Programming feed, then remembered that the feed has been showing very little content lately. I guess this is related to the monetization of Bluesky Feed Creator. Feeds using the free functionality probably only see a fraction of posts :(

I was thinking about that when playing the game Hades (I haven't played the sequel yet). Overall the art is amazing, but a lot of the details are kind of weird/vague if you look closely, and I wonder if people would avoid that now because it looks too much like AI slop detail?

For coding, I keep seeing people say things like "it turned a week's work into two hours" when obviously they don't know how long it would have taken without AI, and perhaps a more experienced person could have done a higher quality job without AI in 30 minutes.

holding the camera still would make it less of a 3D problem, but you'd still need to find the alignment with sub-pixel precision, and figure out a way to accumulate without blurring. Also there's diminishing returns (doubling the number of images might only halve the variance of the noise)
