ahhh true. I think in my engine the hitbox would not work correctly if it extended out of the 1m^3 volume, so I would have to do the same

09.12.2025 14:20 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Ahhh cool. I'm trying to get away with not using block entities for doors and stuff yet. I guess I will need one if i ever want to animate it opening/closing
09.12.2025 05:30 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Is the door an entity?
08.12.2025 08:55 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0explore a mechanic once it's in the engine. And I believe Terraria does this well too by really squeezing out every single possible idea and possibility within its game world and ruleset
30.11.2025 16:48 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0awkward middle ground where they only want to add things with a specific purpose, but they never fully explore any idea. They add one insulated item/mechanic and it is never touched on ever again. That's something I wanna try and avoid when working with my game, try and consider how I can fully
30.11.2025 16:48 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I would argue that it's not really the feature count that leads to the feeling of bloat but the way the game works on a fundamental level. A game like Terraria with thousands of items doesn't really feel bloated because of the sheer mechanical variety of everything. I think minecraft is in this

Allumeria has just surpassed 10k wishlists!!! Thank you everyone for your support <3 Multiplayer is coming along nicely and should be ready before christmas :) If you haven't wishlisted already, maybe you can be part of the next 10k ;) store.steampowered.com/app/3516590/...

People have so many preconceptions about block games, its crazy. Mostly harmless but its an interesting insight into how i think people like to defer to things that already exist rather than accepting something new

18.11.2025 08:09 โ ๐ 60 ๐ 7 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0People would get a warning about a mod using non-sandboxed code. That way it could be a player choice thing rather than something I enforce.
14.11.2025 13:46 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Every time i mention wanting to do modding support through a sandboxed scripting language all the modders get annoyed at me :P
People just really want to be able to mod EVERYTHING even if there isn't an API for it. I think the plan for me is to support both sandboxed and non sandboxed, and
THEY DID IT
12.11.2025 19:03 โ ๐ 18 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Damn, that is fascinating. The way i've been dealing with modding in my game is people are allowed to do whatever they want as long as its distributed as patches and not the entire source code. Modding is awesome and i wanna foster it :)
11.11.2025 04:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Is the source for this the word of notch blog? its kind of funny that he was so against modding and the game became one of the most modded games in the world

Here's some still images since the video has a lot of outdated footage. I am developing the game so fast that a trailer i edited a month ago is now super out of date already ๐

07.11.2025 12:17 โ ๐ 147 ๐ 43 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 1Please give this game a shot if you liked Pocket Frogs. I had fun playing the demo during Next Fest
06.11.2025 13:15 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Making your own engine for this is fun too, I went crazy a few weeks ago trying to fix a bug that only affected intel igpus from 2014. But I feel like it is well worth it. I find so much joy in people being able to run the game on whatever computer they have.
03.11.2025 04:11 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I've been trying my hardest to get my game to run on low end hardware, old hardware, or no dedicated gpu for this exact reason. I feel like a game running well on older machines is such a selling point now when most AAA games require the cutting edge to even run at all now.
03.11.2025 04:07 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's a possibility, I've been kind of tired of editing videos for each update recently, I skipped a video for 0.10 completely. I would like to, its just time consuming and something that its hard to convince myself to work on
02.11.2025 06:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Allumeria 0.11 is out! It adds a new fishing system with 17 fish to collect. Theres a fishing minigame, 5 different baits, 3 different rods, 2 new potions, a new water shader, seaweed, elevators and packed dirt. #gamedev #indiedev

I know this is unsolicited advice but what helped me get my game out there a little bit was emailing youtubers in my target audience. Asking youtubers to play the game is the #1 best marketing tool for indies in my opinion.

This is a great idea :D I liked how terraria did it with slimes that were an abundant resource. My solution is super boring and uncreative by comparison, just small deposits of coal on the surface. This is looking really good and very excited to see where it goes :)

Nearly finished 0.10, I want to have it out in time for halloween. I've been adding some small visual effects to make the world feel more alive. Also introduced sub-biomes with different colours and foliage. Really happy with it :) #gamedev #indiedev
