okay I appreciate that some pharmacists probably don't feel comfy with doing that for controlled substances given that's a temporary covid exception but otherwise, is not the whole POINT of being able to adapt a prescription to not have to send that fax

And it would be nice if doctors knew to read that fax instead of assuming it contained "Your patient with heart failure still has heart failure. GDMT is still on board. We told them to get Shingrix and they said no."

but SOMETIMES you want to send a fax like "Your patient has developed a photoallergic reaction so severe it's apparent in February in Canada and it doesn't seem to be due to any medications. We ruled out drug causes and told them to come see you. Heads up"

and we can fix that WITHOUT the doctor so why should they have to sift through a fax about it

but SOMETIMES you're doing a CACP or SMMA and you find out something like "they thought rosuvastatin was a short-term prescription because it didn't come with refills" or "they thought Symbicort was once daily and they're using Ventolin almost every day"

We could put a little thing on Netcare that showed when and where the last review was and doctors could fax us and ask for it if they want, nobody needs a trillion faxes per day like "Your patient's medications are good and they are taking them. Remember to check their A1c next month!"

my hot take on CACPs and SMMAs is actually ~everyone should get a yearly medication review with their pharmacist in the same way everyone should get an annual physical with their doctor, AND, the doctor doesn't need to get a fax from me about it unless there's a specific action item for them
