Reception have learned their own superhero story, which we created using a story mountain ⛰️ It is based on our class text Super Milly and the Super School Day. 👧 🏫

Year 1 celebrated Internet Safety Day by going on an AI tecnhology hunt around the school. We have been learning how to stay safe online.

The event was both informative and inspiring, encouraging pupils to start thinking about their own future ambitions.

Yr 6 enjoyed listening to the speakers & learning about their jobs.The visitors spoke about a range of careers, including a UX moderator, an entrepreneur, a football coach, a social executive and an author.

A careers fayre was held at school, giving pupils the opportunity to learn about a variety of professions and career pathways. The event allowed children to hear directly from industry professionals, helping them to understand the skills, experiences and qualifications needed for different roles.

Reception have been having superhero fun! We have made a superhero headquarters as well as mini superhero hideouts.

This week, Year 1 have been looking at materials in Science. We went on a material hunt around the classroom to find differnt mateirals. We found glass windows, wooden toys, a metal bin and plastic waterbottles.

Reception have been labelling dragons 🐉 to go with our story The Magic Paintbrush 🖌! Can you draw and label another dragon at home 🏡?

In Year 1, we have been working hard at phonics time. We have been learning split diagraph a_e.

Yr 5 & Yr 6 pupils explored DNA coding with the Cambridge Science Centre. They learned about the four DNA bases — adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine — and discovered how they act like letters in a code that tells our bodies how to grow. An exciting and inspiring science experience!

Reception have painted useful things they would like to see come to life, just like in Julia Donaldson story The Magic Paintbrush.

Yr 6 investigated how changing the voltage in an electrical circuit affects the loudness of a buzzer by using different numbers of batteries. They worked collaboratively to set up fair tests, make careful observations, and discuss their results. The class showed great teamwork.

The choir visited Brook House Nursing Home to perform Christmas carols for residents, including those living with dementia.
The choir went Morrison to sing Christmas carols. They sang beautifully, well done choir singers, you have made us very proud of you.

Last week in Year 1 we learnt about Advent. We made a wreath and added the four candles.

We welcomed Townley Grammar School for an interactive workshop on the circulatory system. Sixth Form students supported the activities and helped explain how the heart and blood vessels work. The visit offered an engaging and memorable learning experience for Year 6

Reception have spent time getting ready for their fantastic nativity. We've been making star crowns; trying on costumes and singing our hearts out!!!! ❤️ 🎄 🎶

In Yr 3, we are developing our reasoning and maths talk skills. We worked in groups to solve a range of maths problems, explaining our thinking and the mathematical operations we chose. We listened to each other’s ideas, tested different strategies, and discussed our reasoning before answering.

Year 3 have been learning about muscles and skeletons and how these make movement possible. To observe how the muscles of the hands help them to move, we made our own models of a hand and we used sticky takes, straws and strings to make muscles and skeleton.

Reception have been having a great time this week building houses and using blocks to balance. 🏠

It was a memorable visit that brought football and local heritage to life.

Y6 enjoyed an exciting trip to Charlton Athletic Football Club, where they explored the players’ changing rooms and experienced being pitch-side at The Valley. Pupils also learned about the club’s rich history, discovering key moments and famous figures that shaped Charlton Athletic.

This week Y1 have been learning about birds from our science topic. We have been writing facts about different birds and completing drawings of an eagle.
