Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:

The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same...

- Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist

Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

This is why people are so upset when people say Democrats need to stop focusing on trans issues because it's too woke and people aren't ready for it: we're not talking minor inconvenience here. We're not talking microaggressions

We're talking: they are stripping IDs from trans people

Appreciate the talk about banning ICE masks in shutdown negotiations.

But the non-negotiable should be congressional oversight of ICE detention facilities. Full access, no appointments, no permission slips.

No compromise.

A colorful infographic titled "What is the Trans Bill of Rights?" outlines four points with icons: protections from employment and housing discrimination, equal access to medical treatment without discrimination, legal recognition of gender identity, and the right to use restrooms aligning with a person's gender identity.

ICYMI: I introduced my Trans Bill of Rights with @markey.senate.gov β€” legislation to defend trans people across this country as Republicans continue to push anti-trans rhetoric and bills.

To our beloved trans community: We see you, we love you, and we will always stand with you.

Support every trans, non-binary or questioning person you know. Speak out for those you don’t. Vote for politicians who want to expand humanity, not shrink it. And for god’s sake, stop buying Harry Potter or the works of those who want to ruin the lives of our loved ones out of their own ignorance.

Another thing that the demise of MMPB has resulted in is the death of the midlist. Publishers used MMPB to break new authors, because readers would be more willing to take a chance on them if they only had to pay $4-5. With everything now only HC or trade, fewer titles are being released overall.
