That's where my needs differ from @eddelbuettel.com. My team works on a shared server and we're all working on different client projects with their own needs for different R and package versions. So having multiple copies of different software is helpful. Otherwise I love r2u.

Posit Package Manager has long offered "naked binaries" which were different for each OS and did not include system dependencies. The "manylinux" repository is newly available and is the same binary for all OS types and comes with the system dependencies. Doesn't require sudo. It's really great.

Try installing #rstats packages from this repository, it bundles all the underlying Linux libraries like PROJ so you don't need to worry.

Today we're launching DuckLake, an integrated data lake and catalog format powered by SQL. DuckLake unlocks next-generation data warehousing where compute is local, consistency central, and storage scales till infinity. ⁠ducklake is an open standard and we implemented it in the "ducklake" extension.

We’re chuffed to announce the 0.2 release of the GeoArrow specification! We released the first version in September, 2023 and have since worked with the community towards our vision that getting spatial data from one library to another should be fast, easy, and preserve properties like the CRS.

Really excited for version 0.2 of GeoArrow! This has been years in the making and adds:

- Geometry, GeometryCollection, Box types. We can now represent mixed-type geometries in an array
- New ways to represent CRS.
