From as best as I know, Control wanted an operative in the Rebellion and you were the perfect pick as first officer, so they switched you with someone else, then when that operative died two weeks after insertion, Control decided to cut its losses and had you sent to the new brainwashing program.

Yeah, assuming Control lets us both arrive there in one piece, A bit of advice, don't take the Odyssey, get an old Excelsior-class ship, the older the ship, the harder it'll take for Control to upload itself. Preferably a ship that's already been decommissioned.
