I’ve been doing better lately but only because I’m making “take my pills at the same times every day” like my number one time management priority. For a while after I made it my first priority I was remembering but was still accidentally taking my morning meds at bedtime almost once a week 🙃

Deleted a repost that some folks were expressing doubt about the veracity of. Prolly time to put down the phone for the night.

God I HATE IT when I do that. And spend the whole day thinking “gosh I’m having a bad day” and then realizing

If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.

True, but some things are more non good than others. This seems like a potentially rapidly destabilizing non good thing

I for one would like to see a little herd of penguins toddling across the infield

More realistic, perhaps: an asshole escaped peacock. Those things are surprisingly nimble and seem hard to grab. It would be pretty funny.

I don’t have much to share — a couple videos shared by neighbors on the neighborhood WhatsApp, which I won’t reshare. Nobody in the group had heard of them before.

These jerks are now in my neighborhood harassing people. Including filming and streaming kids being picked up from a local synagogue preschool. Mindboggling assholery.

I learned about the TomboyX brand of gender-affirming underwear when it was news that Target stocked them. It's unbelievable how efficiently they shredded all the goodwill they'd built with stuff like that. Anyway, buy directly from @tomboyx.com, they're great.

having written about how banning web scrapers from a code forge i host made it usable again and saved ~60€/y in power bill, let me tell you:

you cannot fathom the offloaded cost of GenAI on small web hosts. it is a veritable distributed denial of service to the entire web. Every web admin sees it.

Nadir view of my workbench with bead boards and many tiny boxes of beads in a rainbow of colors. On one bead board I have five strands laid out that shade from red through orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple in 6mm beads.

An image of the speaker, Miki Nakajima. She is smiling and looking into the camera. She has long dark hair and is wearing earrings & a white striped shirt with a black blazer. She is stood outdoors, leaning against a fence, with some trees visible but blurred in the background.

A photo of... a magma ocean?! Not quite, because that would be a really difficult picture to take since we do not have any on hand. Instead, this is a photo that was taken in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, in May 1954 during the eruption of the Kilauea Volcano. The floor is literally lava, blackened and fragmented with what appears to be whirlpools of red and yellow lava in their centres. Close enough? Credit: Photo by J. P. Eaton, May 31, 1954

You've maybe heard of ocean planets 🌊🪐 but what about *electric magma* ocean planets?! 🔥⚡🌋

For our next #RockyWorldsDiscussion on Thu 5 March @ 14:00 UTC, Miki Nakajima will present exciting simulations on magma ocean dynamos in Earth and super-Earths
