We really feel like we belong in the world of friendly cricket where everyone's enjoyment is more important than anything else.
The Sundries played at Dyrham & Hinton Cricket Club yesterday evening. Beautiful weather, solid bowling and fielding but let's not talk about the batting....
We set up the South Bristol Sundries to enable more people to enjoy playing village cricket matches without having to commit to a traditional club or deal with the competitiveness of league cricket....

Back to Cricket: Softball Smash!
Eight of us met up to play indoors today....
A combination of "Catchy Catchy" and a pairs match worked well for a mixed group and we had another new player along for their first cricket in 20+ years.

We do too! It's so simple and the unpredictability of public space makes it pretty exciting. Even people who don't play, walk past but start talking about cricket, unexpectedly.
14.12.2024 16:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We had an amazing grab from a Dad with his kids & some skaters diving for catches too.
14.12.2024 15:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Some interlopers have joined in for an hour or more. Others have a few hits, a bowl, a field or some umpiring. We had about 16 slips at one point today. I obviously bowled it down the legside then tho! Gah

14.12.2024 15:49 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Found the water quite a lot today though. Perils of playing at the harbourside arena I suppose. Nice clip off the legs at most grounds, but that's in the drink and out here. #StreetCricket #Cricket #Bristol #CricketInTheCity #Out

Great day playing cricket on the streets of Bristol again today.
Thank you to everyone who got involved when passing by. Especially 'one handed catch man!'
Meanwhile, is this out, or sliding down? #Cricket #StreetCricket #Bristol #Harbourside #CricketInTheCity
Highlight #2: Our second (now annual) family cricket day was bigger and better than 2023. Over 150 people enjoyed the day from either side of the boundary rope. A real focus on making it a great day for spectators and extended family worked well this year. Treasure hunt, BBQ, πΊ bouncy π° etc #Cricket
10.12.2024 18:43 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0This is such a great picture. Particularly fascinated by it because we've started playing street cricket too. Taking the game to places where people already spend time brings an excitement, unpredictability and potentially A LOT of fielders. FYI we're playing in Bristol City centre this Sat at Noonπ
10.12.2024 16:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0#Bristol folks.... We're gonna be meeting up at the harbourside amphitheatre on Saturday for a bit of backyard cricket in the city. Public involvement is very much encouraged. Even if it's just a one hit wonder. #Cricket #StreetCricket #BackyardCricket #Play

Umpiring decisions can be cruel, infuriating, and sometimes downright funny.
Our '50 Reasons' tea towels and posters should be essential viewing for part time umpires.
Commit to memory and you'll never be stuck for an answer when the bowler asks howzat!?
