I just think it's fun that throughout MSQ from like Stormblood onwards Dian CAN go back in time to save people, but he doesn't mostly on his own principle of self preservation. But when he throws everything in to try and save the one person he wants to (Ace) he can't do it.

Something something Dian's selfishness is self preservation not from a lack of caring but out of a "caring more for his own well-being since going back in time literally tears his body apart" and in shadowbringers he's like 19 and not emotionally intelligent

it's fun cos oomf gave the prompt "selfish" and i think it's probably one of his most selfish moments that isn't the classic s9 stuff i've done a few times by now, she hates him for a while and it's extremely justified but also his point of view IS understandable from a look of self preservation
