Just taught my last class at UMass Boston! Next semester I'll be beginning a new faculty position at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Grateful to many of my colleagues at UMass for welcoming me into the field, and excited to be joining such a powerful group of scholars warriors over at CUNY!

Another name we should know

Should be recognized.

People I directly shouted out (I’m pretty sure, all a blur!) that inspired my discussion of trust in legal systems, scientists, clinicians:

@evanauguste.bsky.social
@cdelawalla.bsky.social
@neillewisjr.bsky.social
@tessneal.bsky.social

Thank you (plus others I’ll reach out too).

All of those factors are of course relevant within the American context, but a few of the chapters have a transnational focus, with the clear context that the book is rooted within the particularities of the U.S.'s histories with incarceration and colonization.

We've got chapters on African-centered assessment, community healing, forensic practice in service to radical movement, therapeutic practice for formerly incarcerated people, reparations, and more. All from a grounded group of scholars, clinicians, and people with lived experience.
