Anecdotally, chatting to House Teenagers mates I would 100% agree - they don't think about women this way. They have some weird views (and are way too willing to take conspiracy theories seriously to an extent) but they are largely progressive and open to equality.

Yes totally, if stuff is destined for physical copy PDF is a solid choice.

I'm just salty 'cos of how often I get people asking me how to make their PDFs more accessible, and then when I tell them how I get the disappointed "Oh, but that's quite involved" face.

Totally relate. It ended for us at secondary, when House Teen had been discussing with friends what they'd wear, got all dressed up and arrived to discover no one else had bothered 😬

Yeah, it's a minefield for sure. I get that certain stuff still needs to be trapped in amber as a PDF, but people do need to understand it can still be edited. As soon as stuff goes digital then it's editable and can be saved elsewhere and you get versioning control issues. Ugh.

Yeah, but it isn't even that good at that really. I hear this a lot from academics "I just want to ensure no one can change it" but there are literally dozens of tools that can edit a PDF. The problem is they're all crap and make the PDF worse. Even Acrobat Pro is rubbish at editing.

Exactly. Want to print the thing so it looks exactly like it does on the screen - PDF. But pretty much every other usecase is better in a different format. Especially where people are using assistive technology or you need to ensure it's accessible to as many people as possible.

I really don't miss trying to find a costume that an (at then) undiagnosed autistic kid can wear for the duration of the day without having a meltdown. If only we'd known then what we know now.

I am in Bristol, but unfortunately my sum total of knowledge is really the Thomas the Tank Engine mod for Skyrim.

I grudgingly accept this is good though, but it just means people will hold onto PDF as a format longer when it's day is done.
