Each time I come up with a grand vision and sink dozens to hundreds of hours into it, only to walk away unfinished, I learn a bit more about how to make a dream become real.β @notjack.space

LOVE this vision, and how @semble.so's upcoming connections feature helps to build towards this. Open, accretive collective sensemaking FTW!! Seize the means of sensemaking!!

System (what a name!) looks really promising for modular scientific sensemaking! Rhymes w/ INDRA: www.indra.bio + our work on open tooling for researchers to make/contribute + own the modular data for this with @discoursegraphs.bsky.social
Lots to learn and build on!
I'm curious what your Mendeley story would be!

Hi William!
1000% appreciate the pioneering work y'all did with Mendeley. My read of what Ronen is saying is not throwing Mendeley under the bus and more lamenting the loss of some of these open ecosystem features that Mendeley pioneered (unless I'm missing something with the current featureset).
Screenshot of obsidian showing a bunch of shows listed in seattle to the left, and on the right is the plugin i talk about. On the top is a calendar view showing all the dates the shows are happening (parsed from the file) and below that is a map with markers of where these shows happen (the map is using the watercolor tileset from the previous post). It's all bidirectionally synced, so if you move your cursor, or click a calender event or a map pin, it'll show up the date and the cursor moves to the location.
Found out about it because I've been playing with Obsidian. Wanted to see all the music shows I wanted to go to, but didn't want to do the math of which show happens where and on what date. Built a plugin in about an hour that makes it easy to see. Just _had_ to use the tileset

Love this, and riffing: imagine if songs were indivisible, and we didn't have sampling and allusions. How much more impoverished would our musical culture be?
I also have been pondering analogies to open communities for modular creation and remixing like bricklink
1/ Finally wrote up βThe Story of Mendeleyβ! Most people know the tool, few know about its rise and fall. The Mendeley story provides important clues for how to build self-sustaining AND non-extractive knowledge commons, which is why I think it deserves more attention π§΅

Yes. Many such cases that excite me, including especially on the ATMosphere and @atproto.science
As noted later on the thread, not *vibe-coded* but AI-accelerated!
To me, the most interesting use for AI-generated code right now is *not* where you give up libraries for single-use, 1st party code; but new shared systems that are good for humanity to build, but were economically infeasible before.
LLMs let us build those "If I won the lottery" projects now.
This is fantastic! I'm adding these to an open bookmarks collection here (feel free to add there too, you can use your BlueSky handle there too, no new account needed): semble.so/profile/joel...

Screenshot of text: Is that we move to community based AI with essentially a decentralised network of validators of information creating trust web and nodes that confer community trust. You can validate, you can verify. And ultimately, you may also be authenticated to nudge and βmanipulateβ but in an environment of care and around loving and positive interpersonal relationships. This may be naive but we each carry a device with us that could become part of this network and we each carry a network of friends connected in the digital realm that may contribute to information validation services.
Lovely vision of decentralized networks of validators, from @trfetzer.com:

I'm very interested in downstream effects of the (post-)training regime (including the so-called "Soul doc") on properties like this (uncertainty, self-correction). I note that my Claude response also had a "Wait..."!
