Lieutenant Luigi Parisotti, 4/39th Garhwal Rifles An account of the death of Lieutenant Luigi Parisotti, 4/39th Garhwal Rifles on 2 January 1920 during operations with the Derajat Column in Waziristan.

One of my passions is to ensure the correct commemoration of our war dead by #CWGC. This post is about Luigi Parisotti, killed in a long forgotten VC action in Waziristan, whose date of death and regiment are now correctly recorded:

Given my experience of how most people avoid anything to do with creating historical records while serving, I wonder how many were written by those who were less than enthusiastic about the task they'd been given!

This was also done by several ground formations and in commemoration of various major actions e.g. Op Varsity.

A Combined British-United States Grave at Digboi War Cemetery, Assam | Nick Metcalfe In Digboi War Cemetery, Assam lies a sergeant of the USAAF. Why he is interred in a single grave with three British soldiers is a most interesting tale.

So how did an American USAAF sergeant and three soldiers of the Royal Artillery end up in the same grave in Digboi in northern Assam?
