Morty doesn’t know when you took this photo of him. But he approves all the same. That’s a good pack 🐾

This is one my friend recommended to me years ago and he raved about this series. I too wasn’t sure based on the blurb.

I should’ve tried it by now, he bought me name of the wind and made me read that and I loved that too 🀣

Back on the list!

So far so good πŸ˜„ a little dated, but I’m quite gripped. Only ~80 odd pages in though.

This is giving me nostalgia as I was there. It was a great conference. Single track in a lovely theatre in Paris. Every talk was gold.

Also included functional options (from Dave Cheney), Go is not an OO language (John Cinnamond) as some favorites that stuck in my memory.

I’m super curious to go have a listen to the voices now πŸ˜„ I just finished book two last night! I’m well hooked now.

Man, book two was brutal. Some very visceral carnage in there. And every character having their own hellish and perilous journey. Brilliant though.

Those powder mage books we recommended, I’ve listened to 4.5 of them so far, read by Christian Rodska. I really enjoy listening to him. Does a great range of characters.

Only criticism is like between book one and two, a couple characters changed voice and it confused me πŸ˜„

This is excellent. Feels very Go. Making complex things simple. I’ve done some pretty horrible things to my code in Go over the years to make concurrent code deterministically testable. Leaking all sorts of things in the process.

Testing concurrent code with testing/synctest - The Go Programming Language Go 1.24 contains an experimental package to aid in testing concurrent code.

I’m tremendously excited about the synctest package. There’s usually a tension between making async code idiomatic or testable. Synctest makes the idiomatic code testable.

My only guess is that they mean they don’t do switching/routing at the TCP level. Meaning they always interpret the http headers and frame, which has its own overhead (you can load balance tcp without parsing the http payload). But you’re right, it’s still likely TCP under the hood (http3 excluded).
