On Tuesday 14 October our Special Thematic Coordinator Nada Zečević will be presenting at the IMS Research Seminar speaking about 'Hybrids on the Frontier: Power and Identity of Italian Families in Latin Greece (13th-15th century)'. 🙂

Finally, our Special Thematic Strand co-ordinator will work with the IMC team to split the STS thematically into multiple sub-strands. We then put these into the strand index, alongside our 39 permanent strands, to create a useful tool for you to find sessions you're interested in by theme!

We then pass these on to our programming committee, made up of international experts who each handle one of our 39 regular strands, our Special Thematic Strand Coordinator who handles the STS each year (this year's is 'Temporalities').

Hi Jeroen, it seems you may be referring to the IMC strands. As well as having paper index terms, the entire programme is also divided into 39 strands by the IMC team, which then become the Strand Index in the programme book. You can find out more here: www.imc.leeds.ac.uk/about/progra...

For IMC 2025 a total amount of £16,825 was awarded. 289 applications were received and 100 applicants were awarded bursaries. Bursaries were awarded to participants from 44 different countries.

Following my recent fieldwork sailing down the Seine in a reconstructed tenth-century ship, @stevedehailes.bsky.social and I are organising a panel on practice-based/experiential research in medieval studies. We welcome abstracts from any field. #Medievalsky

Got a proposal idea that doesn't sound like either of those things? We also welcome proposals for non-standard sessions.

However, in these cases, please do get in touch with us via email at imc@leeds.ac.uk in advance of the deadline, so that we can do our best to facilitate this.

Which brings us to our next format, Round Table Discussions (also with a deadline of 30th September). These usually see a panel of participants coming together to discuss a topic. They'll often give a brief statement each, before launching into a wider discussion.

Our session proposal deadline is fast approaching on 30th September!

Sessions consist of 3 or 4 papers on a common topic or theme - plus a moderator who will introduce speakers and handle questions. These sessions can be standalone, or form linked series of up to 4 sessions and 1 Round Table.
