interesting -- Monroeville was held up as a success story in the doc "Wal Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" (2005) as a community that had successfully blocked a Walmart from opening. 25 years later, Walmart gets their way

Well, the grander plans for Monroeville Mall seem to be tearing the thing down and starting fresh with "new retail, restaurant, and entertainment space, supported by new landscaping, pedestrian-friendly design, and public open spaces for community use."

The screenshot shows the top of the volleyball coaches poll: #1 Nebraska, #2 Texas, #3 Kentucky, #4 Pitt, #5 Louisville, #6 Stanford. More importantly, it shows that Pittsburgh got 1,309 points from the poll. Like 13-9.

Yeah it’s interesting how big the gap is between Texas and Nebraska. But RPI doesn’t like you loading up on bad teams, and Nebraska has played six matches against teams in the 100s to Texas’ zero.

If you have the stomach for it! Always good to have more opponents inside the RPI Top 25 — need Georgia Tech to pick up some wins for that since Pitt will play them again at season’s end.

Good point. Biggest factor being the additions of Stanford and SMU, obviously, but the middle tier of the league held its own in non-conference play this year — should boost the overall tide.

Also turns out Miami is an important match for Pitt's RPI purposes, so you ought to be *seated* at 7 PM on Friday

Pitt got some nice publicity last year by having the #1 spot attached -- probably an attendance and TV ratings bump too -- but otherwise I've maintained a Coaches' Poll Gonna Coaches' Poll attitude.

When the volleyball coaches' poll comes out this afternoon, Pitt could very well still be #5 and leapfrogged by L'ville.

I'm not bothered. Pitt is RPI #3, which the tournament selection committee weighs heavily. If Pitt can take care of business and win the ACC, they'll be Top 4 come December.
