Cozy was used long before it was a genre, so conflating the two doesn’t really apply if I’m talking about before the genre existed and why I have issue with the genre existing now. It becoming a genre is the thing I’m criticizing.

I tried to make it clear from the start by saying I like the games individually and made sure to repeat that and defend them because ton of my own art comes from games that would be considered “cozy games” now. But I don’t think the genre should go without critique. This is maybe a better example:

if anything this is what I’m advocating for, the games are great and anything can be cozy if you say if is. It’s the walling off of what defines the genre cozy that I have issue with.
