Agreed, but it’s usually the first few that pull it off before everyone moves on to the next trend that another indie game starts. Obviously I hope they all find success, but I feel like chasing trends has never been sustainable for anything.

They’re pokemon trainers too, so the NPC is saying they’re not serious and then uses bug catchers and hobbyists in a dismissive way by adding in “like” and “just”. He then follows it up by saying “but Brock isn’t like that”. He’s obviously contrasting trainers, not the bug catcher aspect.

Even if it’s not directly at them there’s obviously some self awareness here lol
