This was a teaching cruise where the students got to plan and execute the field experiment. Letting them make these decisions was important and they now get to work up the data to see if their plan worked well. All part of the learning. I was there to provide guidance when needed.

Thank you, it was pretty smooth and uneventful.... You should consider going to this meeting in 2027. It's pretty awesome!

Well that's a wrap of the Coastal Dynamics GRC for 2025. A great meeting and was so pleased to have the chance to hang out with awesome polar oceanographers Yoshi Nakamaya, Seth Danielson and Kiki Schulz! Until next time all...

So much potential for crowd-sourcing data! And so much fun dreaming up ways to get kids as excited about the ocean as we are with @rejectedbanana.bsky.social 🌊πŸ§ͺ

Partial solar eclipse over the UK now. Best seen through the cool glasses from the NASA booth I picked up at the last AGU Ocean Sciences meeting, but that was hard to photograph. Here's the shadows from my colander showing the crescent shadow instead πŸ§ͺ

@zacklabe.com continuing to draw vital attention to the crazy warming of the Arctic.

Continuing this work in the face of uncertainty during these calamitous times is what fortitude is all about. Thank you for these great graphic tools.

Your graphics are amazing @zacklabe.com! Never give up, your work is so very much appreciated. Also it's such a great example of how climate science is a global village when you consider the data sources you use.

Sigh 84% similarity score for a new manuscript submission. Can authors please stop just shopping their manuscripts around and properly reconsider why your study was rejected by a different journal. This just wastes everyone's time and doesn't advance science πŸ§ͺ🌊

Yep, in the same position. Am gently reminding all authors who favour non-UNCLOS compliant placenames that they must indicate the recognised name is what most people use for the territories in question. Also, who wants to read a paper about the Gulf of America? Sounds like a non-place to me.....

The other half comes home and states "did I tell you my bottom friction is working?" Definitely in the category of things only oceanographers say to each other that can be easily misconstrued by others! πŸ§ͺ🌊

I don't do watches anymore, sadly, as they weirdly irritate my wrists. Would have been all over this otherwise!

Been on here for a while, but not been posting much anywhere. However it's exciting to see the community exploding now, though the reason for it is somewhat crushing.
