The home server is definitely the way to go in my opinion. I just find Handbrake a little overwhelming (personally) and have been known to screw up things like subtitles and dubbing layers.

We've got a Plex server set up, but I've only ever gotten around to ripping a few of our DVDs.

(I do all of our music on it, and since we got an NAS can even play our music on the road through Plexamp.)

Guess I need to make sure I've finished any series I still mean to finish.

If I were religious and believed in prayer, I think my prayers for the troops would include prayers that the people issuing orders to them and putting them in harm's way would be blessed with wisdom, insight, and humility. But I'm an atheist, so what do I know?

Why are so many bases being successfully hit? There should be no world in which we planned an attack in Iran, expecting counter strikes, and have had our defensive systems exhausted so rapidly? We should have been stockpiled with enough patriot missiles to defend these things for weeks…

I mean part of the answer is they sincerely didn't think Iran would follow through, since the US leadership has demonstrated they do not comprehend their enemies as human with capacity for thought, but also things never work the way you *imagine* them to. Even unlimited stockpile wouldn't be 100%.

Ralph Bakshi is a singular auteur whose accomplishments have never matched his ambitions (I love him for that). And I love that his idea of a Disney-ish kids movie has a perverted gnome, robot assassin, voluptuous barely-dressed fairy, and a villain who kills people by showing them Nazi propaganda.

Also also: bombing civilians is just bad, whomever is doing it. It may be unavoidable in some circumstances, but it's awful.

Not to mention: there's absolutely no historical precedent whatsoever for a bombing campaign effecting regime change from within. It just doesn't happen. Worse yet, there is experience that bombing campaigns have the opposite result, building solidarity and cohesion in the target population.

Unfortunately, wishing don't make it so.

They will, however, be more than happy to hold Democrats accountable for anything that goes wrong when a Democratic President tries to clean it up.

I will say that at least part of this isn’t a “he’s suddenly” thing. Trump always wanted this to be a short “engagement” where he quickly got what he wanted with minimal pain

Miles Copeland, Jr. was a colorful figure in midcentury American espionage, then his kids played an inordinately-sized role in '80s music. Apparently in addition to Miles III and Stewart, their brother Ian was a big promoter who represented a ton of New Wave and postpunk acts. It's a strange world.

I think they're going to be a little surprised that half-century-old political posturing hasn't aged well beyond a core clique, and even that coven of anti-Persian xenophobes and religious bigots is shedding its isolationist fringe at a steady rate these days.

One thing about the Administration's lack of effort towards even a pretextual casus belli: I'm pretty sure that after 50 years of not getting over the 1979 hostage crisis and reactionaries using Iran as a Middle Eastern bugbear, the Admin thinks, "Hey, it's IRAN" is sufficient cause for anything.

I didn't practice civil litigation and it's been 30+ years since law school. Can somebody tell me if there's a way for everybody involved to lose all their money and be financially and socially ruined forever?
