Jesuit Commentary Track - Wake Up Dead Man Two Jesuits provide a commentary track sharing their perspectives on the Church and pastoral theology in relation to the film.

Had more than one person tell me they wanted to hear "a Catholic commentary track for WAKE UP DEAD MAN," and it was a fun excuse to rewatch the movie with my Jesuit friend JRod as we talked about how this thing feels from the perspective of young clerics currently immersed in theology studies.

When it comes to kidney health, taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body. Tune in to explore how mental health support can improve your overall well-being and breaking the stigma around therapy and medications. bit.ly/3MiMdFH

Bad framing: ACIP voted to scrap the universal hepatitis B vaccine recommendation for newborns.

Accurate framing: Anti-vax conspiracy theorists appointed to ACIP by Robert Kennedy Jr., who made a fortune as an anti-vax profiteer, voted to expose babies to a preventable, incurable, deadly illness.

Not for Ped Neph. We had a 27 applicants, <40% fill rate 😭

Our workforce future seems grim #nephSky

🀣 #PedNeph is now the worst!!

Of ALL adult AND pediatric specialties

38% filled.

Thirty. Eight.

And this is a continued, sustained, worsening pattern

No surprise because we are not making (forcing?) the systemic changes we need to make (and many of us want to make)

GIVING TUESDAY
December 2, 2025
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates generosity, community, and shared responsibility. It began as one day, but today, it represents something bigger: A reminder that giving isn't just about money. And it isn't just about one day. It’s about choosing to support change every day, in many ways.

SMADIE works to make healthcare accessible, inclusive, and equitable for people with disabilities, not just in policy, but in training, design, and everyday care.

Your support helps us: Elevate disabled voices in medical education, Grow mentorship and advocacy opportunities, Create training on accessibility and inclusive care, Build a community that designs for every body and mind.

Giving Tuesday helps us fuel this work, not just for one day, but all year long.

What is keeping you up at night?
What gives you strength in tough times?
What else would you want me to know?”

An insightful & moving talk from @stephharmanmd.bsky.social at the Big Ideas conference, culminating in her important point that palliative care physicians don’t have a monopoly on helping people decide what matters most to them. Here are some questions to consider for anyone facing serious illness.

NAMI Statement on Executive Order Targeting Homelessness and Criminalizing Mental Illness NAMI urges investment in proven mental health solutions over involuntary treatment in response to a new federal Executive Order.

This EO criminalizing homelessness & mental illness ignores decades of research & lived experience. This EO has many devastating aspects, especially its targeting of Housing First policies.

Housing First reduces homelessness, emergency room visits, and contact with the criminal punishment system.

The answer is: Hell yes, trans kids should be able to participate in sports according to how they identify.

The emotional damage done by rejecting a kid’s identity is the real concern here. Not the bigotry of a busybody parent trying to bully that one kid.

The latest NIH grant chaos:

NIH apparently sent stop-work orders to all *97* MARC and U-RISE programs in the country.

These programs support underrepresented undergrads interested in health research careers.

MARC dates to 1977. Over 48 years, the programs have supported thousands of students.
