Sharpham Road Playing Fields parkrun

After a week off to make way for another event, (in which many of us went over to Keynsham to have a crack at the Curly Wurly) #parkrun returns to the still-rather-brown playing fields on the 26th. Our volunteer roster is filling nicely, be great to see everyone again! 😀

A good turnout for the #parkrun #parkwalk event yesterday, a dozen walkers and over 150 participants, plus a decent morning's weather!

A lovely morning for #parkrun this week - lots of volunteers, participant numbers were swelled with a fair few visitors, and the Strawberry Line and playing fields were in great condition!

The threatened rain showers didn't materialise at #parkrun this week, instead we got a lovely spring morning for a colourful relaunch of the parkwalking initiative with new parkwalker bibs, bunting and flag!

Lots of milestone shirts on display at parkrun this week and a bright if chilly morning. Thankfully no results dramas this week either!

20 dropped tokens given out in the wrong order gave us a bit of a results headache at #parkrun this week! Thankfully we had lots of great photos to help straighten everything out 👍

Started frosty at #parkrun yesterday but most of it had thawed by start time, turned out a lovely morning for photos with a clear Mendip backdrop, some nice shots from the old railway bridge, and plenty of visitors for pacer week including several up from Yeovil RRC 👍

It’s parkrun ‘tutu’ day on Saturday, come and join us for a run/jog/walk and coffee and a natter afterwards. We are on the B route again as the playing fields are still a bit slippery and have also been churned up by someone with a remote controlled buggy 🤦‍♂️

I certainly picked the coldest day to be RD yesterday, that’s for sure. Selfie with the funnel team while we wait for the first finishers.

If you like #parkrun *and* railway heritage then just another 2k past our northern turn point is Shute Shelve tunnel, if you’re visiting us it’s well worth exploring on your warm-down! And Martin here, this week’s RD, is also looking for volunteers, shout if you can help.

Things were slightly different at parkrun this week as we were on the B route due to wet playing fields, we still managed to get lots of good photos though

Course looks ok for Saturday, a couple of muddy patches and soft spots today, but may well dry up in time for #parkrun 163.

Looking ok for #parkrun this week at the moment and Holwell Rye is flowing nicely, lthough we will need to see how much rain Storm Eowyn leaves us with.

Busy old day at #parkrun yesterday, a good crowd and better conditions, Phil’s 50th, having to squeeze round the back of a live football game, and the return of Catherine with her new baby!

The #parkrun route looks good for Saturday but junior football is back on this week, so get here early to find a parking space.

Took some fab #parkrun photos on Saturday, the ones taken along the stream are only possible until all the nettles spring up along the bank, and the position as parkrunners spill down into the old railway cutting always gives great action shots. 📷

Looks like we are heading for a re-run of last week’s #parkrun weather-wise, there’s been a bit of snow on the Mendips but the Strawberry Line is largely ice-free.

Second highest turnout at our #parkrun yesterday of 187 in frosty conditions, pacer week, and a visit from parkrun royalty Paul Freyne too!

The route is looking fab today although it’s likely to be a bit of a crisp morning on Saturday for #parkrun number 1 of 2025.

Pretty misty and murky around the Mendips for our #parkrun yesterday but we still had 156 participants and a fair few visitors.

Lots of festive costumes at our pre-Christmas parkrun on Saturday. No Christmas Day event here but we continue the seasonal vibes on the 28th. 🎄

Sadly we have had to cancel this week’s parkrun due to Storm Darragh.

A very pleasant and mild morning on the Strawberry Line for #parkrun today, with participant numbers back up again now we are rid of that Storm Bert nonsense! 🏃‍♂️
