What if there's ever an election, somewhere in America, in which the Democratic nominee is not JB Pritzker? There is a definite possibility that this could happen.

30.07.2025 14:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's not "allowing islamophobia" to nominate a judge who had the votes to get approved.
A twisted narrative has evolved, which somehow blames the whole Democratic Party for islamophobia, even though a Dem president nominated the first Muslim appeals judge, and 94% of Dem Senators supported him.
Now, many of Jay Willis' 150,000 followers are going to help fascists win elections, by refusing to vote for any Democrat, because only 94% of Democratic Senators supported Adeel Mangi. Based on a flat-out lie that those 94% made Bove a federal judge. They didn't.
30.07.2025 14:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0People like Jay Willisβ¬ eagerly jettison reason in the service of anti-Democrat fury.
A Dem president nominated Mangi, and 48 of 51 Dem Senators supported him. A GOP president never would have nominated Mangi, and (presumably) all 49 GOP Senators opposed him. But somehow, this is the Dems' fault?
I'm upset that Bove just got a lifetime appointment as an appellate judge. But you're upset about which seat he got. Because that gives you an opportunity to attack Democrats, who all voted against Bove's nomination.
30.07.2025 02:35 β π 29 π 7 π¬ 2 π 0Here's who they were: Three Senate Dems (Cortez Masto, Rosen, and Manchin) opposed Mangi's nomination. They are the reason why Mangi is not a judge.
They are NOT the reason why Bove is a judge. That's just wildly false.

Apparently this needs to be said: You want to disrupt Trump's fascist attack, you need to use power against REPUBLICANS, not Democrats.
Guess what Dems did last week (reportedly w/involvement from villain #2 Hakeem Jeffries)? Made the Speaker give up his power for a week.
More than two dozen rabbis were arrested this morning for sitting down on the floor in Senate Majority Leader John Thuneβs office and praying for food aid for people in Gaza. www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...

30.07.2025 02:09 β π 24 π 8 π¬ 1 π 0"Emil Bove's confirmation was only possible because Democrats caved..."
That's plainly false. And the guy who just wrote it has 150K followers here.
What the hell are we doing?
It doesn't work that way. Biden appointed different judges to different seats.

30.07.2025 02:13 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0I'll never understand how people just completely lose their ability to think like this.
It is very reasonable to be angry at those Democratic Senators who wouldn't support Adeel Mangi, whoever they are. But it is insane to claim that this resulted in Bove becoming an appellate judge.
You're not getting this. There's not just one federal appeals court judgeship. There are, in fact, 179 of them.
30.07.2025 02:02 β π 18 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0That disingenuous pro-fascist piece of shit has over 150K followers.
This is a fascist website.
Has it occurred to you that, if Mangi had been confirmed, Trump would have just nominated Bove for a different seat?
Maybe that should have occurred to you.
Yes, obviously.
Some people are just despicable pro-fascist ratfuckers who insist on attacking Democrats, instead of the people who voted to confirm Bove.
Nope β this is the fault of Uncommitted and Bernie surrogates Corny West, Brianha Joy Gray, Susan Sarandon and Nina Turner as well as 100s and 1000s of leftist scumbags like this pos
30.07.2025 01:49 β π 26 π 6 π¬ 2 π 1Here's a non-paywalled link to that New York Times article: archive.is/Ug4BR
The New York Times helped smashed our democracy into pieces and wrecked the future of humanity. Nobody should be paying them subscription fees to read about what they did.
This game where Murkowski & Collins get a hall pass to vote against nominees they know are gonna be confirmed is so fucking tiring and insulting to our intelligence.

Jeffrey Epstein's autopsy report.
It is interesting that in the full report they first noted "hanging" as cause of death, then changed it to "suicide" (hanged self)
It's not the Democrats' fault that Bove was confirmed. If they had 51 votes, they could have prevented it. But they don't.
30.07.2025 01:31 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This accusation that Dems are "doing nothing" was amplified by @heidikitrosser.bsky.socialβ¬, who is a constitutional law professor, and is likely even more expert than @mjsdc.bsky.social regarding any means the Dems might use to prevent Bove from being seated. I hope she'll offer some suggestions.
30.07.2025 01:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This leftist, for example, told everyone to let Trump win, because the Supreme Court didn't matter. So, here we are. The Supreme Court, our Constitution, and our democracy, are all dead.
30.07.2025 01:25 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No, the way it works is, the president nominates a Supreme Court justice, and then the Senate votes to confirm that justice. If the Democrats controlled the Senate, they would have confirmed Merrick Garland. But they didn't. And a bunch of Dem-hating leftists decided to destroy SCOTUS forever.

30.07.2025 01:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hey @mjsdc.bsky.social, you're a "senior writer at Slate, covering courts and the law." So maybe you know something about courts, and/or the law.
How do you suggest Senate Democrats should stop Bove from being confirmed, now that the Republicans just voted to confirm him?
What do you want them to do?
30.07.2025 01:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Expanding the Supreme Court requires an act of Congress, and the Republicans currently control Congress.
People who want the Supreme Court expanded will need to shut the fuck up with the goddamned lies about Democrats supposedly "doing nothing," and elect enough Democrats so they can do something.
