I feel this so deeply. I’m one of those folks who desperately wants a house, but why do I want to sacrifice our beautiful natural environment so developers can build more houses that I have to rent but can’t afford to buy? The only winners are the developers/investors.

I love that for you, excellent parenting. It’s French plaits or death for us! The dance principal has spoken. But each room has a number of chaperones who can do hair etc… so it’s all good. We’ll figure it out. But I do avoid them usually as it’s work I don’t need

I can imagine! My OH feels v out of his depth with dance stuff, and would much rather discuss football! And most of the parents at dance are mums. We had a meeting for all the chaperones - 30 of us? One dad. Fair play to that king - I hope he can do French plaits and eyeshadow 💅

For people who know me In Real Life™️ it’s a hoot as I was always a slightly gothy rugby player and somehow birthed a sparkly dancer. I’ll be dressed in black and DMs, while packing tutus, blue eyeshadow, pink lipstick and hairspray. It’s coffee and haribo FTW.

My daughter has a dance show this weekend and we are buzzing! 1 dress rehearsal and 3 shows (4 numbers each) and I’m chaperoning/running/dressing/hair all (watching final show). We’re going to be fuelled by meal deals and haribo. It’s the biggest weekend of this year after Christmas

Last time I went to HoP it felt like one of those once-grand hotels which has fallen into disrepair so I can fully believe it. Our tiny cottage is challenge enough; desiccated/electrocuted mouse behind a socket, and melted switches.

Like, I feel that perhaps we could do with some kind of metaphorical blowing up of parliament. So this holiday always leaves me with mixed feelings.

OMG YES!! Exactly this. This infuriates me. There are so many different jobs and workplaces out there, all with different expectations. If you want to do the job you’ll dress accordingly - and in your own way. It’s not difficult. Most places want you as you are.
