Brains as hosts for AI computers is a big part of my #ZineMonth project Dead Internet Theory. To be honest, I can’t remember if I read the fan theory first or came up with the idea on my own. There are also actual labs researching this. Anyway there is a resonance for me with the Matrix’s mythology.

There is a fan theory origin story for the robot overlords in the Matrix movies. Originally, the Matrix used humans, not as a power source, but for their brains as processors. It makes more sense in a hard science way, but the studio thought it was too complicated so it was taken out.

They are also writing an album for my project Dead Internet Theory, with a physical CD as a stretch goal. It turns out that a lot of the band are electronic musicians, which feels like part of the perfect concoction to Cy_borg’s heavy metal infused version of cyberpunk.

You could say the same thing about conventional D&D attacks, 5 people can be standing around a monster, roll their attacks and everyone misses so nothing happens. Also not fun

Dancey’s impact was really interesting to me, because I am intimately familiar with how opening up an RPG was prior to the OGL. It was flawed, but it was light years ahead of other options (creative commons wasn’t yet suited, and most other open licenses were software specific).

Superhero scifi is a genre of scifi that combines two broad genres with some really fun results. It is certainly a genre of science fantasy that leans to interstellar space operas, with immense empires, millennia old wars, and reality shattering technology.
