The City of Houston has turned off signal preemption on Main Street as part of their re-timing of the entire Downtown signal state. This has resulted in delays that double travel times in Downtown. I am hopeful the City will return the Red Line to normal operation shortly.

Houston light rail commuters experience delays on Red Line following signal change To raise awareness about the new delays, LINK Houston organized a morning rush hour race on Thursday between pedestrians and the METRO Red Line across seven downtown blocks.

Light rail riders are experiencing delays along the METRO Red Line after adjustments to the timing of traffic lights.

The first three BOOST corridors (routes 54, 56, and 82) are nearing completion, benefiting almost 25,000 riders every day! Local buses are the backbone of any transit system and I applaud METRO for making such meaningful investments in their operation.

A Better Ride: corridor enhancements to provide faster, more reliable trips including improved stop placement, semi-level boarding platforms, traffic flow improvements, and reinvesting savings generated from faster service into more service

A bug would be fixable. This was a deliberate decision by the Mayor’s office.

No idea! The city has been working to re-time signals in downtown. Without warning, signal priority was shut off this weekend.

What should be a 7 minute trip through downtown just took 15 minutes. Trains are unable to keep 6 minute headways. Bunching in downtown is affecting the preemption beyond downtown. METRO is having to add trains to keep the schedule.
