I've a specific take on it myself, I think "sorry" is for honest mistakes and "I apologize" is for when you've been a jerk. I also believe in the "parts" of a real apology thing. 1. Say what you did and why it was wrong/harmful 2. Say sorry and offer a fix 3. Don't freakin' do it again!
