19.10.2025 20:20 β π 19 π 5 π¬ 2 π 0it's really funny that we endured an entire summer of "Bluesky is DYING because nobody engages with me the one time a month I post here" thinkpieces all summer just for this bozo ass government to try to open up shop here because nobody they're trying to piss off uses Twitter anymore
18.10.2025 19:59 β π 655 π 124 π¬ 13 π 6actually now Iβm realizing that the hardest one to explain to strangers is why I keep all my time travel scifi next to the Watergate shelf and not with the rest of the scifi
time travel does not live in the same box as space or robots in my head, it lives with like The Warren Report π

19.10.2025 17:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not everyone can care about everything; that's fine. I just don't love being in the bucket of "things I don't have the energy to care about."
Some of these folks have done things like texting me to make sure I've gotten home safe; in retrospect, that just feels performative for their benefit.
A struggle that pops up from time to time in my heart is between my deep love of well thought out RPG mechanics driving emergent behavior and the fact that most of the best games I have ever been in have just been people talking.

19.10.2025 09:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.

Itβs not the turnout in big cities that has me crying today. Itβs turnout in places like Colorado Springs. Deep red, no Democratic member of Congress in over 50 years.
This was today.
yes! exactly! that is a shoe car that should go vroooom, putt putt putt, vroooomm!! across the play rug
i love him
the whole article could have just been ten pages of βBrilliant Things Eleanor OβBrien Said,β and some gold was left on the cutting room floor, but this is such a banger of a closer and itβs so very much the theme of today

"KNOW YOUR PROTEST RIGHTS You donβt need a permit to protest in response to breaking news and you donβt need a permit to march in the streets or along sidewalks, as long as youβre not obstructing traffic or access to buildings. When you are lawfully present in any public space, you have the right to photograph anything in plain view, including federal buildings and the police. If you believe your rights have been violated, when you can, write down everything you remember, get contact information for witnesses, and take photographs of any injuries. If you get stopped by the police, ask if youβre free to go. If they say yes, calmly walk away. If you get arrested, you have a right to ask why. Otherwise, say you wish to remain silent and ask for a lawyer immediately. Donβt sign, say or agree to anything without a lawyer present. If you get stopped by a member of the military or any law enforcement office at a protest, you have the right to remain silent or to tell them that youβll only answer questions in the presence of an attorney β no matter your citizenship or immigration status."
If you're taking to the streets to protest today, know your rights.
18.10.2025 12:11 β π 3229 π 2172 π¬ 21 π 38so a lot of people who haven't been to a lot of protests are out right now and I need to make clear to them:
do NOT sign your name on anything. Doesn't matter who they say they are, do not put your name/signature/phone number down.
I've seen a lot of photos of people taking lists, and it seems well-meaning, and also you're setting up your own people to be comfortable around and to not see a really common trap

18.10.2025 01:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0General reminder:
It is less important to be able to recognize that someone is a fed or other bad actor infiltrating your movement
Than it is to be able to recognize the bad advice or suggestions that they provide.
It doesn't matter if, for instance, the people saying "the best response to violence at a protest is to sit down and show the cops you're not a threat" are trolls, feds, or well-meaning dupes.
It's important to know that the advice will get folks hurt or killed, and should not be trusted.
