🚒🎥 2025, by the numbers & by the moments. In 2025, West Metro Fire Rescue responded to 42,279 calls for help. And every call is a reminder of why we do this- being there on someone’s hardest day.

Quick work by firefighters kept the fire contained to the garage, there was smoke damage throughout the living area. Residents were able to escape without injury & firefighters reunited two dogs with their owners. The family has been displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 2/2

Our crews this afternoon on a garage fire in a home on S. Chase Drive near Bayaud Ave. in Lakewood. Several neighbors saw smoke and flames coming from the structure and called 911. 1/2

The countdown to the holidays is on!
It’s the time of year we all get together to celebrate with friends and family. And the time of year that our crews see an increase in emergency calls.
Enjoy the season and stay safe this year with these tips from West Metro Captain Dan Wenger:

Our firefighters used a MegaMover (basically a tarp stretcher) to carry the two bucks back outside- safely and carefully. We’re guessing they will think twice before their next late-night showdown. The CPW officers tagged the bucks, and when the tranquilizer wore off, they were released. 3/3

The startled homeowner called Colorado Parks and Wildlife, who sent two officers with a tranquilizer gun. But before they could put the two intruders to sleep, they called in West Metro Company 15 for some extra muscle. 2/3

This is what happens when you get rowdy after midnight! 🦌
Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, two bucks in Roxborough Park were butting heads when their sparring match took a wild turn- right into a homeowner’s window well and through the glass into the basement gym. 1/3

West Metro Company 7 was there to make sure everyone was safe & healthy. Tessa and her family dropped in for her first visit to Station 7 a few weeks later. Today, she came back- this time to celebrate her 10th birthday. 2/2 💛🚒🎂

The girl sitting in the driver’s seat looked just a little bit different 10 years ago. That’s when a West Metro crew first met her - on the day she was born. Tessa Maurer was in a hurry- arriving at home less than 15 minutes after her mom felt the first contractions. 1/2

West Metro Company 5 just happened to be driving by, and the passerby flagged them down.
The crew climbed down into the drain, and pulled them all out, carrying them over to mom who was anxiously waiting nearby. 2/2

When you're little, sometimes things just don't go your way. And that was true for five goslings today, who were out on a walk with mom. A passerby saw them fall through a sewer grate into a storm drain behind a restaurant near Colfax and Colorado Mills Parkway. 1/2

March is usually the snowiest month of the year in Colorado, but not this year (so far). Lack of moisture means the vegetation (fuel) is dry and ready to burn. So, another day of VERY HIGH fire danger in West Metro's district, along with a RED FLAG WARNING.

At this time, the cause is believed to be an electrical malfunction, although the investigation is ongoing.
Proper sprinkler activation on both floors of the building undoubtedly reduced damage to the two units and the entire structure. 2/2

**UPDATE: structure fire on S. Independence Circle**
Our investigator has determined that the fire started on the second-floor balcony of one unit, then moved to the third floor and into the attic. 1/2

All residents were able to evacuate safely. The fire caused damage to two units, and smoke and water damage to two other units. Four families have been displaced. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 2/2

WMFR tonight on scene of a structure fire at a multifamily complex in the 8300 block of S. Independence Circle in Jefferson County. The first crews on scene reported smoke and flames rolling up the outside of a three-story building. 1/2

Recruit class 25-01 is a little over a month into their academy training. The lesson this week: fire behavior. First, they built three small structures, based on construction methods seen in neighborhoods in our district. Then, they burned them down.
