This is just unreal. The level of panic in speech pathology groups is off the charts

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: β€œNo one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

You may have heard my arguments against the Electoral College before. Here’s a new one the Founders never anticipated:

If the President is elected by popular vote, he probably wouldn’t selectively punish entire states for voting against him.

Talarico: if you read the new testament, Jesus doesn't spend most of his time preaching or teaching or even praying. He spends most of his time healing the sick.

Right now, we have politicians in congress with Christ follower in their Twitter bio, but they are kicking the sick off their health care

A pretty lady with a tuxedo cat and a grey tabby cat. Mango is the tabby.

A pretty lady with a tuxedo cat and a grey tabby cat. Mango is the tabby.

Mango, the littlest grey tabby cat, has gone on to glory. His tiny size was part of a medical complication. He was very sweet and personable. We had him and his brother just a year. The children are very sad. Though small, he was a cat of the first order.

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

CEO-to-worker pay ratio in 1965: 20-1

CEO-to-worker pay ratio in 1990: 75-1

CEO-to-worker pay ratio today: 280-to-1

Trickle-down economics was always a sham.

Nothing has ever trickled down.

Opinion | Autism Has Always Existed. We Haven’t Always Called It Autism.

This is such a nuanced and big-hearted piece on the evolution of autism as a diagnosis, by an anthropologist of mental health who is also the dad of a now-grown daughter on the spectrum. Great reading (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/09/24/o...

Many folks try to live their lives as far away from disability as possible. That allows all sorts of misconceptions to develop. If only we could be close together and support one another.

Attempting to rig elections on his behalf.

Turning the military on citizens.

Toying with the idea of declaring martial law.

Attacking political enemies and punishing those who speak out against his regime.

If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?

Troubling trend where there are harsh consequences for the opposition and the crimes of loyalists are excused. We recognize this as injustice and know it falls short of American ideals.

A handful of billionaires now have unprecedented control over banking, the food we eat, our healthcare, and the information we receive. Many are now currying favor with Trump to avoid accountability and maintain their power. This is what oligarchy looks like.

15 years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.

Today, sold-out politicians block progress on all fronts to appease their corporate donors.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

It is not about Kimmel or what he said. It is about the US government forcing a network to fire someone - no government should have that power. If the network decided this on their own, that’s one thing. But in this case they absolutely did not.

After hiring Trumpworld lobbyists, the airline industry got Trump's DOT to:

-Scrap a rule requiring compensation for excessive delays
-Plan to rescind requirements for airlines to disclose junk fees
-Reconsider which flight cancellations require refunds

One thing I’m really struggling with today is the fact that the director of the FBI is a conspiracy theorist who promoted QAnon and called Jan. 6th insurrectionists political prisoners.

This is the guy we’re now supposed to give the benefit of the doubt when he’s releasing information.
