Above all, the police approach in that decade culminated in the unlawful killing of 96 people and decades of cover-up.

Or just cars running red lights.

On my commute yesterday, a white van sped up to run the lights and passed through whilst a woman with a buggy started to cross. She jumped out of her skin.

But let’s chat more about the bikes that hypothetically could kill someone rather than vehicles that do.

Can someone ask Farage or Zia Yusuf why, if they're so concerned about incitement to violence, they had Lucy Connolly as a guest star at their conference?

I also particularly enjoyed his comment reconciling his apparent Sharia Law plans and yet standing in front of a Murphy’s banner. Great speech.

Fantastic event by @liamconlon.bsky.social highlighting the importance of the campaign for a Philomena’s Law. The redress scheme after the horrors of Ireland’s Mother & Baby homes shouldn’t create financial hardship for the survivors. And thanks to my lovely Siobhan McS for backing it!

Farage vows to scrap indefinite leave to remain, placing thousands at risk of deportation Reform UK plans to force non-citizens to apply for visas with high salary thresholds and no access to NHS services

Thousands of Londoners have indefinite leave to remain.

They have legal rights and are our friends, neighbours and colleagues, contributing hugely to our city.

Threatening to deport people living and working here legally is unacceptable.

Amid all the stuff about β€˜dangerous London’ and β€˜broken Britain’, new figures show the homicide rate in London is at a 10-year low. Killings dropped by 26% over the last year, from 78 to 58. No one under 25 was murdered during the school summer holidays.

Graphic with the headline β€œLondon is the greatest city in the world” set against a bright view of the River Thames with the Shard, Tower Bridge and the city skyline. The text celebrates what makes London special: regularly voted the number one city in the world, incredible diversity with over 300 languages spoken, world-class transport, world leader in finance tech and life sciences, best museums and galleries many free to visit, world-leading nightlife, food sport and music for every taste, host to the world’s best sporting events, home to seven Premier League clubs, globally-ranked universities, a city where you can be yourself and love who you love, and a place for everyone.

Scrapping of audit watchdog for English councils β€˜led to soaring costs and chaos’ High critical report finds that instead of promised annual saving of Β£100m, fees have rocketed amid financial crisis

In Tower Hamlets, Aspire stooges have consistently tried to pin auditing problems on the previous Labour administration (problems the fab @mufeedah.bsky.social was brilliantly tackling) whilst ignoring the elephant in the room. Wilful? Or just ignorant?

I see we’re still β€˜saving brick lane’ by spending insane amounts of £’s (which could be spent on services) on legal fees because cllrs are unable to perform their statutory duty to determine the lawfulness of planning applications.

Ignorance of the planning process strikes again! πŸ€ͺ🀯

Whenever I post about Gaza / Palestine, it's pretty clear a lot of people don't hear about what the UK government actually say & do - especially when it's on the world stage, like at the UN or other international orgs.

So I thought I'd make a simple thread to post links as things happen.

Labour Yimby are disappointed by the Government’s decision to concede to the Nimby lobby on the planning reforms this country so desperately needs.

For the first time the Labour Government is backing the blockers, not the builders.

We’re quoted in The Times voicing concerns about HMG’s planning concessions.

We back protecting nature and building the homes and infrastructure Britain needs.

These changes risk doing neither while adding delays, legal challenges, and uncertainty.
