For those confused about the War Powers Act, it is straightforward. A president must notify Congress within 48 hours of deploying forces or launching action. Troops must be withdrawn within 60 to 90 days unless Congress declares war. In this case, congressional leadership was notified beforehand.

A dirt hiking trail winds past low alpine shrubs toward a still mountain lake partially ringed by snow in the PNW. Snow-covered slopes rise steeply on the left, their reflection visible in the calm water, while a dense stand of conifers clings to rocky terrain on the right. Low clouds obscure the upper peaks under an overcast sky.

The lake was more cooperative than the sky. Both were worth it. Happy #Stunday!
