Original 1925 jacket cover of The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby Here is a novel, glamorous, ironical, compassionate a marvellous fusion into unity of the curious incongruities of the life of the period which reveals a hero like no other one who could live at no other time and in no other place. But he will live as a character, we surmise, as long as the memory of any reader lasts. "There was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life. .. It was an extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as I have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again?" It is the story of this Jay Gatsby who came so mysteriously to West Egg, of his sumptuous er-tertainments, and of his love for Daisy Buchanan a story that ranges from pure lyrical beauty to sheer brutal realism, and is infused with a sense of the strangeness of human circumstance in a heedless universe. It is a magical, living book, blended of irony, romance, and mysticism. CHARLES SCRIBNER'S SONS The GREAT GATSBY FITZGERALD
They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.
-FS Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, published 4/10/1925.

Anyway, go buy an indie game or two. Indie games are fantastic, and I've come across plenty of titles where I wish I could've paid more than the asking price of $5-20!
Indie devs/studios deserve and need your love now more than ever. So go give them your money!
I discovered this Italian song today. I love the music video and lyrics! www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss3N...

I have heard so many newer writers—including extremely good ones!—bemoan that they think they're a failure because they might have to throw out a half-finished draft and start over.
Throwing out a draft is
a) very very normal and
b) progress, not failure.
I wrote seven novels before Someone You Can Build A Nest In. I didn't just throw away drafts. There are some eras of my life and spirit that will go unpublished.
And that's okay, because they helped me become the writer I am. They weren't failure. They were education.
I swear. Writing is the only discipline where we make people feel like failures for practising. How many songs does a violinist learn that never wind up in recital? How many studies do painters do? Acting exercises. Tennis for fun.
You're allowed to write without the intention of publishing.
Oh my gosh I can’t wait to see this talk!! Fanfiction was how I got started writing, and it’s so validating to see it being not just supported but encouraged! 🌸

A lonely tower on the edge of Tolstad, once a garrison, now a forgotten outpost.
Dusty ledgers whisper of old truths, while a floating angel keeps watch over her records.
Above, rusted armor & a quiet shrine hint at battles long past.
Claim it as your refuge, if you can.

Thank you so much @alexaray.bsky.social for reaching out to me to write/lead this silly little skit about a very personal topic (and get to bust out my Sarah McLachlan impression).

“Honey, help?”
“No. Now stay still.”
Are you really a failure or do you just need some food, water, a hug, and/or a nap or walk?
