Hanging out at the gorgeous @georgiaaquarium.bsky.social during this stay in Atlanta. I was this many days old when I found out the difference between Sharks and Rays.

Also, this is definitely the first post I've put up regarding this matter...

My favorite part of Decepta Con so far has been people asking me "so, how much Clocktower have you played?"

Conflict doesn't have to be scary. And indeed, those that would call on us to avoid it? Are ultimately just asking for a sort of blind obedience or compliance that is, frankly, terrifying.

And what is primarily holding us back from collectively fashioning a world that is more equitable for ALL.

Well, so long as we all are individuals with our own thoughts and pursuits, and not drones of some large hive-mind.

This is a big part of why it is necessary to grow comfortable with conflict. Not violence; not hostility; but CONFLICT - that is: the intersection of opposing viewpoints, that requires a bit of navigation to ultimately resolve (ideally through compromise).

It is a necessary part of humanity.

It is impossible and unreasonable for us, or anyone, to please absolutely everyone else, with any decision we make.

And indeed, that should never be the goal: pursuit of that, in earnest, would only ever end in ultimate self-sacrifice.

And while COMPROMISE is noble... sacrifice? Is not.

It is absolutely reasonable for us to have disagreement on certain issues, but the crux of working through those issues cannot depend on how someone FEELS more than it depends on how someone is IMPACTED.

The former is ethereal; and highly subjective. The latter is tangible, and more objective.

We have got to, on the left, stop being led primarily by emotional appeals when it comes to individuals who don't give a DAMN about considering the impact of decisions when it comes to anyone else but themselves.

It's incredibly frustrating being on the receiving end of literally just... insult and dehumanization from people who are Anti-Union...

And for their framing themselves as "meek," "unheard," "misunderstood" as a means of encouraging others to put aside their own interests when voting.

A Turning Point?

Feeling a bit under the weather, so I'm canceling stream today.

I'll be back Friday, though, with more Baldur's Gate III Honor Mode action!

In a world that constantly tries to tell you why you should be unhappy; that tries to tell you to focus on what you lack -- dare to be happy.

Dare to believe yourself enough, without external validation.

Dare to acknowledge your value. And dare to stand against those who would tell you otherwise.

Because people who think they are smart are the biggest danger to actual human intelligence and well-being.

And because fear is a stronger motivator than empathy and care and compassion if you have the power (be it social, financial, political, etc.); at least in the hands of a single person.

Being on the sea is strangely magical.

I had bad motion sickness as kid. And now? I still feel the movement, I just know how to handle it.

How to move with my reality, rather than maintaining certain "constants".

Find the tools you need to navigate this world. Embrace them.
