Very sad to hear that @iza.org is closing down at the end of the year. IZA is amazing in supporting and facilitating labor research and careers of (young) researchers. I still have fond memories of all the conferences and especially the summer school. My heart goes out to the people working there.

This Figure presents the effect of our five life events on primary household income (round shape), gross household income (triangle shape) and disposable income (square shape).

New WP out! We measure the insurance value of the Dutch tax&transfer system for various life events and find that across events and subgroups, the reduction in disposable income is remarkably consistent at around 10%, despite large differences in impacts on labor income.

Graphs showing the impacts of automation on workers. Annual wage income declines, while the rate of leaving the firm and days in non-employment increase following automation. At the same time, wage losses are small, so most of the earnings losses are driven by non-employment.

Proud and happy to see our paper on the impacts of automation on workers in the current issue of REStat! direct.mit.edu/rest/article...

Workers at automating firms (beyond robots!) on avg suffer a 5-yr cumulative wage loss of 9% of a year's earnings, mostly driven by non-employment margin.

Well, that ended poorly. The small Christian parties co-signed the far right assault on science and education for some crumbs in return.

Good to see the opposition from left to right uniting against disastrous budget cuts on education by the far right government in NL. This could make it more difficult to pass the cuts in Dutch senate, where the gov has no majority.
