Following WHO call that we can no longer be silent I tweeted this in May.

Thousands more innocent people killed since then (inc 17,000 children since Oct 2023) & hostages remain incarcerated.

But still, people with voices & power to make this devastation end remain silent.

My heart breaks πŸ’”

According to multiple sources this afternoon, in Parliament, Liz Kendall will announce β€˜concessions’ on the welfare bill.

Do not clap.

These aren’t concessions.

This isn’t compassion.

It’s a PR fudge to mask cuts that will devastate lives.

Who Will Count as Disabled Tomorrow? The dangerous redefinition of welfare disguised as Labour's compassionate reform.

NEW FROM ME -

Britain is abandoning international medical consensus on disability.

Every other developed nation recognizes cumulative impairment as genuine severity.

We're about to become an anomalyβ€”and the logic of 4+ suggests it was deliberate.

As a disabled person and a consultant clinical psychologist, I am writingβ€”highly unusually for meβ€”on LinkedIn to ask your help in stopping disability benefits cuts.

What the government proposes to do with PIP, Universal Credit LCWRA and ESA is not a β€œreform.” It is an abandonment. It will cost lives, force people deeper into poverty, and destabilise those who are just about holding on.

PIP isn’t a luxury. It helps people eat, stay warm, stay clean, work, get to hospital appointments, and hold any kind of dignity. It also unlocks vital support for unpaid carersβ€”many of whom are disabled themselves. Universal Credit's LCWRA 'support group' helps ensure that those who would be at 'substantial risk' of a deterioration in their health, or risk to life, aren't pressured by 'claimant commitments' to work.

But now, over a million people could lose that helpβ€”and the government keeps pointing to alternative options which, as a consultant, I can tell you just aren’t there. We are already seein

Put another post up on LinkedIn in an attempt to galvanise more health professionals to make noise agaisnt these deadly #DisabilityBenefits cuts. Professionals cannot, via silence, enable Labour to #TakethePIP.

A digital flyer with a bold orange and cream colour scheme titled β€œSIGN THE LETTER: STOP DISABILITY BENEFITS CUTS.” It highlights that the letter is led by healthcare professionals and backed by over 1,250 signatories. The flyer explains that government proposals could remove Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from 1.3 million peopleβ€”nearly 40% of current claimants. Freedom of Information (FOI) data shows that 1,283,000 standard-rate and 209,000 enhanced-rate claimants could lose support under a new 4-point rule. It warns that this puts 1.49 million people at risk of losing Β£4,500 a year. It names those most affected: people with mental distress, neurodivergence, chronic illness, pain, and fatigue conditions. The flyer urges action with the phrase β€œOur formula for real impact: Personal testimony Γ— Facts Γ— Clinical backing = Change.” At the bottom, it includes the sign-up link (tinyurl.com/2tvfvzft) and a QR code for signing.
