Ed took another sliding step, putting him in reach of Stede’s hand if he’d stretch it out to its full length. But Stede didn’t do that. He just waited patiently for Ed to be the one to get close enough to make contact. The instant Stede’s fingertips brushed his jaw, glorious relief swept through Ed’s face. He moaned, plunking down on the crate next to Stede. “Oh my fucking god,” Ed said. “Best curse ever.” Stede frowned. “Wait, no, shit, I don’t think you’re a curse—” Stede waved his hand in the air. “Of course I’m a curse. But I should be gone now, if the bruises are what you needed help with.”

started a new fic where Ed carries around a gold button that activates when he runs away to sea and Stede is inside like a genie.
