it's kinda crazy some mfs get away with shit, like im pretty sure there was an artist that traced and also flat out scammed people and they still got patreon members

sorry you had to deal with that, must've been frustrating as all hell

i'd just call that shit fraud and take your money back tbh

yeah it's case by case of course and every one is different, but the horror storries i've heard tend to usually have the same elements of being shamed to ask for the thing you paid for several months ago, and no info was being divulged about turn around time.

depending on how long art takes is usually not what peeves me myself, just like if people ask "how long is it going to take" or "when can i expect it to be finished" shouldn't be shammed or seen as insulting, any one spending their money first wants that transparency yeah

that would work if there were enough people interested, it varries per artist right what their reach is so i don't blame people for doing full comms instead.

i mean that's just straight up a crime, i hope you didn't lose any money with that.

in the last decade i've been doing it, cause it really has been 10 years now i've had like maybe two or three bad apples that i mentally black listed, sometimes people are a little weird, sometimes there is just a langauge barrier which makes it a little harder to work. but nothing too crazy

also you should 100% have self worth you pay an insane ammount of money for the effort it takes to draw and artist need to be held to some form of standards, cause i swear the type of shit they get away with is crazy at times

i mean some do, they got like artist cliques and shit but not every artist you only get blacklisted if you try some fucked shit like saying you're oke with a sketch and line-art and then asking for like massive change when it's done or something.

shit does infact happen, i personally pump out art pretty fast and my life i guess is relatively un-eventful. but to take months to draw a piece of art for me is just an insane concept i am unable to wrap my head around.

yeah see that's the painful part, idk how many people have been burned so hard they just never want to commission again, and these chuds are ruining a market that solely survives on the gracious generosity of people, sometimes that generosity is exploited and it's bad.

it's why some artist take months and then have to take Emergancy commissions when they do actually need money at that moment, and pile-up just gets bigger. you ougta pace yourself, interests will always be there. i found it to be a lot better to pace myself this way.

it's all good, my only lesson i part is do not accept all the money in one go, i accept one comm, then do it, then i can accept the next ones. otherwise you pile up 5 comms get all the money and all you're left with is a pile-up of work and it's hard to motivate yourself to finish it

There are very few things that peeve me, but hearing commissioner's horror storries about artists always gets to me, waiting for months, getting legit straight up lied to, or even being shamed to ask for updates several months later after having paid full price. just sheer unprofessionalism
