Armenians who survived the Turkish genocide and settled in Palestine were displaced again when the State of Israel was founded. I hope the recognition of a Palestinian State will also protect the Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem which is under extreme pressure from Israeli ultranationalists.

No it’s not. It’s a common misconception. Luther attacks the misuse of indulgence, not indulgence itself and not the pope either. It’s the hero cult of the 19th century that popularised and dramaticised the event. It’s not even clear if it happened at all. Luther never mentions it.

I like the term Lutheran-catholic since Lutheranism wanted to reform the ‘old catholic faith’ (Brunswick Church order from 1569) and purify it from some Roman novelties they deemed contrary to old catholic faith, particularly expressed by patristic theologians.

Many Protestant theologians think they debunk Aquinas when, in fact, they address Neothomist ideas – for instance the infamous ‘two-storey model’ of nature and grace.
Réginald Garrigou-Lagrange, a central figure of Neothomism, could be an eye opener for Protestant polemics.

Cromwell’s House in Old Marston, now part of Oxford. It was used as the Parliamentarians’ headquarters during the English Civil War. In this house, the Royalists signed their surrender in 1646 in the presence of Thomas Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell.

These are probably pen trials to check the freshly cut pen, nevertheless the shapes are extraordinarily unusual.

Condemnations of 1210–1277 The Condemnations at the medieval University of Paris were enacted to restrict certain teachings as being heretical. These included a number of medieval theological teachings, but most importantly the physical treatises of Aristotle. The investigations of these teachings were conducted by the Bishops of Paris. The Condemnations of 1277 are traditionally linked to an investigation requested by Pope John XXI, although whether he actually supported drawing up a list of condemnations is unclear.

At least the headings are Armenian. The main heading says ‘our most glorious king shall live’ (or ‘long live our most glorious king’).
And the next heading says ‘the glory of the constitution’.

Picture: Gregory of Tatev's 'Book of Questions' (Girk' Harc'manc'), an extensive and central exposition of Armenian theology from 1397, printed in 1729 'in the city of Constantinople' by Astuatsatur. Reprinted in 1993 in Jerusalem, it remains the only print edition of this crucial work.

Armenian printing in the Ottoman Empire: One of the most productive places of #Armenian printing during the 17th and 18th centuries was Constantinople (Istanbul). One of its print houses was operated by Astuatsatur Dpir ('printer') and his family. They printed books for 150 years.
