2023-2026: UNIVERSES BEYOND ERA. Began with the release of Lord of the Rings. The One Ring and many UB precon releases giving commander its super smash bros esque vibe that we currently have today.

What do you think the next era will be?

2019-2023: MODERN ERA. Began with the releases of Throne of Eldraine and Modern Horizons 1. Arcane Signet and overpowered staples were printed and immediately became universal in decks.

2016-2019: MIDDLE PRECON ERA. Began with the release of the 2016 precons where partner and the 4 color commanders came out and changed the landscape. Decks were more powerful and streamlined.

2011-2016: CLASSICAL PRECON ERA. Began with the release of the first precons. Commander was supported, but precons were more like suggestions as opposed to tuned strategies.

Lately i have been thinking about how much Commander has evolved over the years. Here is a thread of my thoughts on the different eras we've played through! What do you think?

Pre-2011: KITCHEN TABLE ERA. The meta was loose, 8 drops were the vibe, and the power levels varied wildly.

Suffice it to say, he is absolutely HOOKED

The tonal shift from Lorwyn to TMNT is so jarring. I grew up watching TMNT and i can't properly express how much more i would rather be looking at Lorwyn Eclipsed Part 2 spoilers right now.

Magic: The Gathering's Newest Product Says the Quiet Part Out Loud - IGN The latest Secret Lair sold the same drop at different prices, drawing anger from the community.

I haven't purchased a secret lair since they stopped doing print to demand. With this marketing scheme i have truly lost all respect for the product line 😔
