This has been said in lots of ways but it is worth repeating; this is extremely impressive. If you asked a dog “who is the best basketball player ever” and it said “Jichsel Mordon” you would be unbelievably impressed. But you wouldn’t hire the dog as your junior analyst, because the answer is LeBron

hi. looking to speak to folks in the games industry getting put through the wringer in the job application process rn. unpaid labour, multiple interviews only to get ghosted, sham job listings, scams, AI screening, any and all of that kinda stuff. DM or email at lukeATaftermathDOTsite, thank you!

Some awesome talks lined up here, including my own!

Come see me ramble on at #GCAP2025 about contracting and see how 15 years of working on (too many) games has shaped how I work with them as well as how we work for dev teams!

Screenshot of talk description: Shifting Left: How full-lifecycle QA saves money. QA analysts and testers are often heard shrieking "put us on projects earlier!" but what does that actually mean? How can you justify the extra expense? How can they be valuable before a project even has builds for them to test? Join Jason Imms, Head of QA for Keywords Australia on a deep-dive into how you can empower QA to help you eliminate deferred scope, keep late-project bug numbers low and manageable, and how your investment in QA not only makes your games better, but also dramatically improves project experience for all game making disciplines (especially your producers).

I'm speaking at #GCAP25! Come and join me if you want to get the inside scoop on how you can justify investing in QA early in your projects, and why doing so will save the sanity of your entire team.

We screech about this all the time, but this talk is less screeching and more informing/empowering.

Honestly I never would've guessed "nuclear reactor on the moon" because it just sounds like shit a random generator spits out. Can't wait for tomorrow's announcement that the US plans to "grow pizza on mars" or "build a factory in Narnia"

Deskilling is real.

This is the world generative AI peddlers long for, one where people are incompetent without their service.

Don't outsource your brain to this shit. You'll regret it.

The teacher I saw recently popularising this approach was www.tiktok.com/@cw.illingwo... . She's trying to raise $500k to start the early stage trials of a possible cure for her son with a genetic illness.

Damn you mean itch didn’t actually just abandon these creators but has been working hard with its limited resources to figure out how to continue supporting them? How surprising

And on B), I have zero faith that the government will be able to keep this level of biosecurity data safe from internet assholes - the same reason we sill do paper voting. Remember the census debacle?

The reason I don't want the government getting this involved is because A) They're incompetent, B) it's not just kids whose identities will be further digitised, and C) We have been making pretty good choices about our kids' social media usage to date.

I totally agree, I just find that when I'm stressed the mindless checkbox ticking of completing open world quests can actually be quite good, just nice brain chemicals without the need for much critical thought.

I'm glad public opinion is changing, but I don't understand people who thought bombing & shooting children was fine, but draw the line at starvation.
