Presidents only get few years to implement their agenda. Senators are often there for decades and have long memories of how they used the filibuster to block legislation they did not like.

Trump asking them to get rid of the filibuster is like asking GOP Senators to lose their hoe phones.

Unfortunately, there are other tariff specific laws which he could re-create them. The case before SCOTUS was trump trying to use the IEEPA law that doesn’t have the word “tariff” in it to level tariffs. He’ll lose, but just try to use other existing laws to re-enact them.
