Trying to be quieter these days, but itโs hard to do that with something like Libre. Weโre able to offer $15 per accepted piece. Thanks for thinking of us.

NEW POEM #243: "The Truth About Brimstone" by Kevin Grauke (@kevingrauke.bsky.social)
"And so here I am, back where this all started, staring at this thick, red-headed toothpick, / thinking of you laughing down there in Hell"

Paul Robeson sang at Madison Square Garden on the day my mother was born in West Texas. I learned this from a biography of Ethel Rosenberg, who was strapped to a chair in Ossining ten years later and filled with electricity. Her heart still beat after three shots but not four. Smoke rose from her head as if from a puffed candle. Theyโd chosen her to go first that night, hoping loveโs valor would break truths from her husband, but Julius, he said nothing. And for him, one shot was plenty.
"Mother played โJohn Brownโs Bodyโ on their cheap turntable. I loved how deep his voice was, how it vibrated dust from the speakers."

All I keep thinking about is how Pete Hegseth raised questions of the competency of a Black four-star general and Air Force fighter pilot who was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hegseth asked did he get the job โbecause of his skin color? Or his skill? Weโll never know, but always doubt.โ
