the problem is that the main character is such an obviously desperate amalgamation of Stick It To Em sentiment that i cant believe they werent obsequiously snorting around in the zeitgeist for truffles like hungry Approval Hogs

id love it if that was the case but it read to me as such a hamfistedly obvious attempt at vaguely and toothlessly sticking it to rich people and that seems to be how most people took it, the difference being many of them loved it and thought it was awesome and i thought it was embarrassing slop

no i was really really annoyed with it, it was so empty. i couldn't believe how profound people said it was

maybe i'm too hard on this movie but i think it really sucked dude and i frankly found it pathetic and sad that we apparently feel so starved for content that validates our rage towards the rich that this was A Big Deal for people

no shade to ralph fiennes whose performance was dece, but i fucking hate that movie, dude. i fucking hate The Menu. empty cliche fake woke anti intellectual Literal Bread And Circus ass movie. like, you should be insulted that the people who made this think you're basic enough to be moved by it

not a theater experience but the angriest i've been following a movie in recent memory was after The Menu (2022). such a shit movie. anti-art, begging for the approval of cool people who Get It and Just Don't Give A Fuck, an utterly empty attempt at an "eat the rich" narrative

deadwood is worth another shot, and i personally ADORED the leftovers when i watched in in 2018 although that was a much younger miles

of all the "new stuff" friends on discord have linked into their servers for them to discuss, how much of that was prompted by being something they saw on twitter? or even bsky for that matter? the introduction of novel shit into your social ecosphere is the other half of the equation here imo

and what this does is also keep users who WOULD enjoy a chiller vibe on twitter because ultimately the vibe is less important than the Social aspect of Social media, which is the presence of enough of their friends to feel their little community aggregator works how they want it to

the problem is that i don't really think "chill" is actually what the majority of people are looking for in their socmed. like, the major desire that twitter had/has is a really good way of giving you convenient access to All Your Friends And Lots Of The Zeitgeist. bsky's not quite there yet

i'm not really saying anything that hasn't already been said here. i wish i could just hop over here and take everyone with me but i can't and i'm also too attached to the cumulative History of my social medias because i'm sentimental in a weird way. or perhaps in a very normal one. jury's out

it's going to be a webcultural disaster when twitter finally fully crumbles to dust, a genuinely irreplaceable loss, but at least it'll force the decision by numbers and make bluesky The Place To Be. not being the place to be is more or less what's fucking the full bsky experience

there is tremendous general pressure to be more active on bluesky but i still just cannot be fucked yet. which sucks because i'd really rather be here all things considered. it's just that not enough people Are. sort of a cumulative self-fulfilling prophecy of nobody wanting to hang out here.
